From my point of view, apart from achieving language skills, students can master some learning strategies, cultivate culture awareness and form right attitudes towards life from my class.

First of all, students can master some learning strategies. As the Chinese old saying goes “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. To develop students’ capacity of cooperation and autonomous learning ability, different kinds of group works are adopted in my class where they can help each other and learn from each other. In the learning process, students have a clear division of work according to their abilities so that they can finish the tasks efficiently and successfully. 

Secondly, students can form culture awareness. According to English new curriculum standards, culture awareness is the guarantee of the proper use of English. In my class, I often choose some interesting culture information which is closely connected with their daily life when we do the reading exercise. And to help them understand it well, I prefer to put the information in the real situation. What’s more, I recommend some vivid English picture books to my students so that they can know more about the foreign culture. 

Finally, students can form the right attitudes towards life. I wish my students be confident, optimistic and creative. Every time we finish reading, we always have a free talk about the story. I will ask them some questions like “what do you think of the boy/girl in the story? What can you learn from them?” “do you like the story? Why?” and so on. These questions can help them understand the story well and know more about the good qualities and right attitudes.

In a word, apart from language skills, we should also offer students learning strategies, culture awareness and right attitudes to improve students’ comprehensive language application ability.
